You’re comparing punks to the greeks and ancient cultures. That’s a bit bombastic. I’d respect punks if they respected my generation, but they’re just like every other group of rebellious youths: they got old, and now they hate the new rebellious youths, and use photos like these to stereotype and discredit todays “hardcore”.
I agree with you on the obvious generational gap here. Of course people are biased because of what they were like when they were younger, and in some cases still are. But there is nothing hardcore about that bottom picture at all, and this is coming from someone around their age. These people are not hardcore, neither is any screamo band that might be popular today. I’m not saying its terrible music, but it’s not hardcore at all. It’s labeled as “hardcore” because hardcore is the only word most people know to describe heavier music.
